about prefabricated houses

Frequently asked questions
Even though prefabricated houses are mostly manufactured in standardised processes, they are not necessarily cheaper than comparable conventionally built houses.

The price depends mainly on the type of house, the special wishes of the home-builders and the home fixtures.

It is difficult to state the price of a prefabricated house in general terms, as it depends on the respective completion level and the home fixtures.
The individual parts (walls, ceilings, roof, and windows) of a prefabricated house are manufactured in production halls and then transported to the building site.

There, the individual parts are assembled
within a few days and the prefabricated house is then completed on site, similar to a conventionally built house.

Most prefabricated house providers (like Hanse Haus) use wood as a building material, but there are also manufacturers who work with concrete or lightweight concrete.
Prefabricated house advantages
Today’s prefabricated houses are high quality, individual and cannot be compared with the prefabricated houses of past decades.

The advantages of prefabricated construction in comparison to conventional solid construction are primarily the short construction time, the fixed building costs, the weather-independent construction (even in winter) and that you get everything from a single source: consultation, construction and coordination.

The advantages of Hanse Haus include the high quality thanks to precise prefabrication and years of experience, energy efficiency through the best thermal insulation and modern heating technology, the excellent customer service and the possibility of customised architectural planning.
house finder
What kind of prefabricated house suits you depends on your current family situation, your life planning and your personal preferences.

As a young family with children, a single-family house with two floors is probably more suitable for you, while a bungalow is predestined for a retirement residence. If you want to live with several generations under one roof, a house with a granny flat or a multi-family house is the best choice.

It is best to think about the purpose of your new home early on and then choose a house type that suits you best.
The lifespan of a prefabricated house does not differ from a conventionally built house.

Hanse Haus builds its houses according to the specifications of the Qualitätsgemeinschaft deutscher Fertigbau (QDF). In expert assessments, the prefabricated houses are certified to have a lifespan of more than 100 years.

The often-expressed concern about the longevity of houses in timber frame construction is therefore groundless.
The best way to see prefabricated houses is to visit a show home centre.

These are spread all over Germany and usually accommodate between five and sixty show homes from different manufacturers. There are also stand-alone show homes and manufacturer-owned show home parks, most of which are located at the headquarters of the respective company.

You can find out whether there is a Hanse Haus show home in your area on our interactive map.
The plaster facade is provided as standard in a prefabricated house from Hanse Haus. With countless of colour combinations, you can give your house a distinctive look and, for example, can set off partial areas in colour.

An additional facade cladding is an elegant solution to embellish the house facade. There are plenty of design options here. A clinker facade or wooden facade is also possible.
With prefabricated houses, the individual parts are prefabricated in the factory and only need to be assembled on the building site.

Depending on the size of the house, assembly usually takes only two to three days.
The total construction time of a prefabricated house depends on many different factors, such as the chosen completion level.
The insulation of a prefabricated house can vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. A good insulation ensures better well-being. If the prefabricated house is well insulated, less energy is used, which in turn has a positive effect on your heating costs.

In order to lose as little heat as possible through the building envelope, we rely on all-round thermal insulation that encloses all external walls, the roof, windows and doors, as well as the basement respective the floor slab.
Of course, we build your house exactly according to your wishes and needs. With us, every house is unique and there are no limits to individuality. However, finding the perfect floor plan is often not that easy.

For this reasons, our architects have designed numerous house designs for you, from which you can be inspired. We also give you a few tips to help you plan your floor plan properly.
A prefabricated house from Hanse Haus can be built either on a floor slab or on a basement.

With a basement, you can create additional space. In many cases, a partial basement is also an option. This was implemented in our show home Villa 178 in Oberleichtersbach.

You can either take care of the construction of the basement on your own or obtain the basement through Hanse Haus.
The investment in your own four walls is usually the biggest one in life. Therefore, it is particularly important to find the right house-building partner. First of all, deal with your own wishes and ideas and compare the different providers. Their scope of services can vary greatly.

It makes sense to visit one of the numerous show home parks that you can find all over Germany. Many different manufacturers represent themselves with a show home and
you can compare them directly on site.

Once you have decided on a house-building partner, your personal consultant will carry out a detailed needs analysis with you and, based on this, plan your individual house together with you.
